Modern Restaurant Tables

Tabletop cooking with the Live Cooking Table

15th December 2007

I’ve always been a fan of the Japanese shabu-shabu style of cooking. This is where guests cook certain dishes at the dinner table itself, which may be surprising to some people unfamiliar with the concept. This brings to mind the movie Lost in Translation, where Bill Murray’s character wonders about a restaurant where guests get to cook their food themselves.

live-cooking-table.jpgMaybe if he saw the Live Cooking Table from the pmg profile marketing group, he would become a fan of tabletop cooking. At first glance, it doesn’t look anything can be cooked on it; it just appears to be a modern, sleek dining table. But looks can be deceiving, because food can actually be cooked on this table – either by a chef or by guests themselves if they wish.

It’s a modular table that can be extended to accommodate up to 16 people. The stove controls are tucked away out of sight, hence the undisturbed smoothness of the table’s design. There’s a cooking station located in every two elements of the table, and the induction cooker likewise is built in. Ceran glass-ceramic panels from Schott are what comprise the table’s surface, which can be custom-designed to accommodate your restaurant’s particular theme or motif.

Or would you be worrying about facing potential personal injury lawsuits from guests who inadvertently hurt themselves using it? Safeguards have been put in place in the table’s design, so you’ll see where the cooking zones are and avoid burning yourself. Besides, the induction technology that the table uses makes sure that only the heat required is generated – no fear of it radiating to other parts of the table outside the cooking zone.

Cooking control is as easy as pressing a button via touch control technology. Other benefits to the table include rapid assembly and disassembly, and user-friendly connections. The Live Cooking Table is a great way of making the restaurant experience a more interactive one.
